I've been thinking about getting an AV policy for my 993 again but don't really have a good handle on the car's value at this point. I had a PCA appraisal done when I bought the car 7 years ago and at that time it was valued at $45K. I'm guessing it's worth considerably more at this point but I'll have to do some research in order to come up with a realistic number for insurance purposes.
Most likely when you had the appraisal in 2008 the market had not yet bottomed and/or your appraisal was a bit too aggressive. The market has come full circle since then and both "book and market values" are more or less in line with each other. If your 993 has sub 60k miles, then $45k is a tad too low; otherwise $45k seems like a pretty good number to me.

Someone pointed out in another thread, Hagerty has added 993s to its valuation tools. I find it very useful to track values over time.

Did you notice the guy in that thread who posted what he actually paid for his Speed Yellow C2S with just a few more miles? ($70k less than that asking price.)

Sale prices seem strong despite the weak economy and overall age of these vehicles. At least that is what I am noticing.
