He's had that car for sale before. Has to be the lowest mile, or one of the lowest mile, cabs out there.

Epic fail. Worst investment of all time.

Eventual sale price << Price + yearly maintenance costs + storage costs + lost opportunity cost (ie FUN with car)
--> negative ROI

VERY negative ROI. Why people do this, I will never know.

You'd have to hope/assume that the guy didn't buy this car in the hopes of not driving it and selling it at a profit in 2011. Presumably there were some other circumstances that led to this. Obviously a horrible ROI, but again, I also don't assume that the circumstances that led to this were a guy saying "here's a good idea for a solid investment...I'll buy a new Porsche, park it for 15 years and then sell it!"

Just my $0.02.

Default Nice car

Agree cars are made to be driven......that car probably cost about $ 72-75K in 1994/5....

BUT......somebody who actually wants to drive a car everyday is going to get a great car for about 50K..............what else can you buy that is that great........ 1 or 3 series BMW cab....Audi A4, stripped Boxster...........

Reminds of a local Dr. with a 993TT with less than 200 miles on it. He used a flat bed to pick up the car when purchased new. He also bought the house next to his and remodeled it to display a few cars on turntables (including the 993TT).

asofine, I'd like to hope you were right (because otherwise its a dumb move), but the advert text seems to imply otherwise.... If it sat forgotten in a barn its one thing, but it was maintained, so the owner knew what he had and what he was doing.

Ordered by a private collector new back in 95, the car has only been driven to and from the Porsche shop for it's yearly service. The car is 100% original with absolutely no flaws! The car and it's parts are so original, most hose's and rubber elements still have the white powdery residue on them. This car is truly a time piece and just maybe one of the lowest mile 993 in the world.

What he thinks its worth and what is will actually sell for are 2 different things.

I will never understand this business of not driving the car, but... I once worked with a very eccentric and an extremely interesting guy, a brilliant mechanical engineer who, among other things, rode in a motorcycle with sidecar with his wife and about 9-year old son from very north to very south of Africa. He also casts small black powder guns and shoots them and daily drives a 1972 LandRover right out of "Gods Must Be Crazy".

So he had a 250GT sitting in his living room for about 20 years as far as i know. Had to take the side of the house out to get it out when it was sold. He considered it art. And, to some extent, I understand him.

A car is worth only what the market will bear. No more or no less.

"Price. A fair price. That's not what you say it is, and it's not what I say it is....It's what the market will bear. Now, there's people...and I know 'em...who'll pay a lot more that $25,000 for a healthy baby. Why, I myself fetched $30,000 on the black market. And that was in 1954 dollars."
