Nice driving. I like how he pointed you by and then just kept his foot planted on the gas

He thought I had a 700HP turbo. Really. I only met him the day before, and he had no idea I was just a bit north of 300HP.

Oh, and the lap time wouldn't have put us on the pole for last month's Spec Miata National race...........

what track is that? Buttonwillow? Is this a PCA event? What are the rules for passing? Sort of reminds me of some guys with Atlantics, DSRs; blinding fast in a straight line, but parking it in the turns. I know they're having fun though.

Nice driving man, seems that your car us setup the way I'd want it and th way my car is, a bit "over steery". Looks like not too much byt you can get it to rotate nicely when you want.
Can you share what your car has? Suspension & engine wise? Just curious.

Thunderhill. Private rental, with some of us hired as instructors. A guy's 50th birthday bash, actually. There was a group of Porsches invited as tag-a-longs via the shop who works on his car. So this was basically an open group, but as I was hired to be there, no way, no how was I going to outbrake for a pass.

Because? Oh, I get it now. YOU'RE the one who wants to bail on the air cooleds for a car like this. Traitor. Until you see that pretty much all you get is 4 car lengths down the front straight.

A Steve Weiner special, that I've not touched. There's something screwy going on right now, as I don't prefer that much insta-rotation. I can drive it, no problem, but rear tire management becomes so important it's annoying when you just want to pound out some laps at a DE/track day.

Whatever you can imagine is in it--Moton Clubsport, 600/800 springs, all rubber out of it, GT2 uprights/etc., Motorsport LSD, regeared, ~320HP 3.8. But it still weighs ~3150 as you see it running here.

This GT3 is not stock--Ohlins, exhaust, regeared, etc. etc. The owner usually runs slicks, but he corded one earlier in the day and reverted back to the stock tires. It's part of why he was pretty unsure of what was going on. 1.5 days of slicks, Thursday with Van Overbeck coaching him. (Johannes did a mid-1:57 in the car Thursday when the slicks were decent. Compare that with my best of 2:03 Thursday--have run as quick as mid-2:01--on 2005 dated RA1s, which were rapidly falling off in the rear.)

A true pleasure to drive.

Ken,
That is some great driving. Can you tell me about your shift light above your steering wheel? Is it a Shifti (sp) and if so, do you like it?

Thanks! Nothing anyone can't learn. On the GT3RS video, the guy is basically new to track days (though he owned a '75 Carrera pre-having a family that he drove 300K), and this was his first couple of days out with the car.

AIM Pista data logger/dash. Got a deal on a few way back when (before the huge price increase), so I picked them up and the two I kept for this car and the Radical pretty much ended up free.

Not sure anyone will spend $2K + installation these days, unless you seriously need data for a race car.

That's some bitchin' driving! Thank you for sharing. Do you ever find yourself getting RAD on the street? Sure it's not safe, but it would be fun putting a 997S/GT...car to shame on the backroads.

Maybe you need a brighter color, so people will see you in their mirrors sooner?

Yeah but he will be fresh when he gets home and Ken will have to take a nap from the workout
