Default :::Looking for help with rubber seals on front bumper, under headlights:::

Hello everyone, thanks for coming in. I'm having this issue in the car with regards to the rubber seal that is under the headlights in the seem of the bumper and actual car. It seems very loose and in fact I can remove most of it. The bumper seems very tight and has no move if i push it up and it doesnt seem like its misaligned because it lines up perfectly with the side fender. I was wondering if any other rennlisters have had this experience and what you did to solve it.

thanks again!
-gabe.

This is pretty common. The rubber just 'shrinks' over time.
Others -- in order to fix this -- have had to completely remove the front bumper, get the new rubber piece(s), 'staple' them into the body and reattach everything. Not trivial.

Mine have shrunk too, but I don't let it get to me.

You'll need to pull your bumper off as Gerry said. I just finished my turbo bumper conversion on my N/A and I installed new seals that you're asking about. When I removed my old factory seals and bumper they were held on with double sided tape and short staples. The seal along the sides are easy, but it does get tricky aligning it as the couture and angle changes.

Awesome thanks for the responses! I was just worried it was misaligned. I'll look into replacing them.

pull bumper cover, remove any old staples or glue, reattach with 3M weatherstrip adhesive, hold in place with tape and clamp overnight, then reattach bumper cover.

If you are going to do all this work take a look at the seals on the top rear of the fender where they align with the cowl. Mine had deteriorated over time so we did all of them.
