Default Zenon Upgrade

I have a 96 993 and was considering the zenon light upgrade. Thought I would start a thread asking those that have done this a few questions. Do/did you do both hi and low beams, if not why? What is your opinion of the various conversion kits, which manufacturer is the best. What light heat range did you use 8,000, 10,000, 12,000 etc. Do any of you know if thw zenon bulbs operate at a higher or lower temperature (deg F) than the H1 bulbs. Any help would be appreciated.

Do a search under "xenon" and/or "hid." Lots of info on this forum.

Just went through this myself. The number refers to the wavelength, not heat range, 4300 is white with just a bit of yellow....the higher the number the more blueish/purpleish. You only need low beam. Only get the 4300. Anything higher produces a blueish tint and is not as bright. Many prefers the 35W (power) version which produces much more light than stock. I went for the 55W, and it is a light cannon!!!!

And yes, they are reliable. My 35W, 6000, bought on ebay, made in china, served me well as a daily driver for over 4 years and was still working when I changed it out.

Yup a search should reveal all. In summary though most have done only the lows, both because for many that's really enough of an improvement and also so you can still flash the highs (doesn't really work with HIDs). Color temp is a matter of preference but most seem to prefer white. As to maunfacturers I think almost all these now come from China so I'm not sure there's a big difference except in design (slim ballast vs. closer to OEM style). They're cheap enough now that I just bought an extra set so I can plug in a new part/unit if one fails.
