Default Tire noise?

I am getting very annoyed by a very loud humming coming from the rear of my car. It is not RPM dependent. This humming is so loud between 60-80! I cannot hear any engine noise. Could it be from the tires?

The tires are Bridgestone RE760 265/35/18 approx. 4k miles. An alignment has been done and the tires are balanced. I checked the wheel bearings, replaced the CV joints. I am worried that I am overlooking some damage that might be occurring.

Anybody in San Diego willing hel me diagnose, maybe to swap rear wheels for a drive?

Thanks,
Tyler

Vary the tire pressure and see what happens.

What is the age of the tires? Check the date code. Even with 4k miles on them, if they are 5+ yrs old, they could be rock hard.

There's quite a difference between tire brands for noise. Current Sumitomos on mine are wonderfully quiet, and smooth.

I lowered the pressure from 33psi to 30. Not much change. These things are howling! I want to rule out anything that might be critical. If it is the tires I want to throw them through the window of discount tire, just like the on the commercial!
