OT - I am … I am… RETIRED!!

Too cool! From the caricature, you are waaaay to young to be a retiree. In any event, big congrats from 600RR and Raptor. (Hated to see you drop the white cab, but the tt is sure compelling.)
Best wishes for continued good diving!

I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck a few years ago at West End. Truly a classy upstanding guy.
Congratulations on another milestone! Great summary! I don't know how you put 34 years of service into a few paragraphs, but well done.
Best (and well deserved) Wishes!

Chuck, congratulations! My late father also had 34 years of service in when he retired from the police department. His four kids were always proud of their dad - just as I'm sure your kids are of you. My oldest brother followed his foot steps into the department, and although dad never told us too many details of what happened on his shift, my brother who is 8 years older than me, would tell his brothers a lot more. So much so that I too was seriously considering becoming an officer myself - but I also had a real interest in being a firefighter (my uncle had followed that career path). When I was trying to decide between the two my dad said to me half joking "Son, be a firefighter - everybody likes firefighters..." and so I did.
Here's to hoping you have a long and happy retirement!! And thanks to you and your family for your years of service.

Fortunate is the man who can look back on his career, know that he helped many people, gave selflessly of his time and abilities, thought about pursuits other than the almighty dollar, and kept his principles along the way. Congratulations on a job well done and a life well-lived!

Congratulations! I'm not a frequent poster (and this is even on the "wrong" board no less), but was so moved by this wonderfully impressive and humbling post that I had to write something! Thank you for your years of service, for helping everyone you did over the years, and enjoy retirement! A great story. And from another "Bear," tell your son "Go Bears!"
