Extra 12 V connection in the fuse/relay panel?
1995 - 993c2
I would like to find a connection for a 12V auxiliary devise. (Voltmeter)
It can be switched or not switched.
Is there a provision for an extra connection in the panel?
Or a way to find 12V under the dash?
The lighter socket is for the RD but if I could reach the back of it, I'd use the wiring from there.
Thanks.

But you can tap into it.
You also do not have to cut into factory wiring to do so. I dislike and do not use those 3M tapping connectors or similar. I strip my wire back a bit, fan/flatten out the strands, lift off a connector, place the wire alongside a pin carrying power, and press the connector back on. No damage or cutting into any OEM wire.

David,
"Easy access" meaning? Sun roof switch in the console?
Dan,
Mobile phone circuit is where?
Alex,
How to tap into the wires/plug for the lighter? The inside of the dash in the 993 is worse than the 911 for access.

If you want to tap into the fuse panel, I've used these before - adds a second fused circuit to an existing slot in the fuse box. I think it's called "Add-a-circuit" - available at most auto parts stores.

Thanks, Scott.
That may be the answer.
There are some slots in the panel without fuses in them labeled as unused and one would have to check if they have power.
Will do.

Gunter, I answered your PM.
Basically my PO tapped into the fuse slot 10 (mobile phone slot) under the hood with a spade connector, then ran the wire to a "phone" recepticle glued near the fuse box. The recepticle had two wires coming out--one going to the fuse box and one was grounded. Then the phone cord to run the power to V1 was routed over to the driver's side through the firewall at the place the hood release cable passes through. Then subsequently routed through the car's left side behind carpet and windshield trim on the left then up over the visor to the V1. Most of this was simply tucking the wire into and under the trim and carpet pieces. Very slick and nearly invisible. I gave you my cell in the PM.
It's not switched so you have to turn off the V1 when you leave the car, but the V1 pulls VERY little power when on.

Is is tiny and well thought out. So that you do not have to drill holes, you can mount it to a plate which in turn is fastened by an existing fastener to your car.

Thanks Dan and Alex,
Here is a picture of the outlet on the right side of the console:
Round 3 mm I.D. receptacle that may be a mobile phone connection? from PO.
If it is for a mobile phone, would it have 12V power and ground?
What would be the right plug? From a phone store, or?

Measure it. The threaded barrel is most likely ground if it was wired properly. Tape up the positive probe so that just the tip appears or you'll be shorting things when you insert it to make contact with the positive tab in the barrel.

Thanks, Dan and Alex,
No fuse in #10.
Did as Alex suggested and found the probe went right through.
So, I opened the side-panel and found no connections.
Popped out the switches and noticed that PO had tapped into the power on the sunroof switch at one time. I spliced into the same spot soldering an additional wire into it and that is my 12V for the small digital Voltmeter. Ground was easily established. Also installed a hidden toggle switch for the meter because I don't want it on all the time.
In the process, I found the relay for directional indication inside the console. Good to know if it ever fails.
