I just learned from my mechanic that my beautiful 996 3-spoke steering wheel is toast. Apparently there is a crack where the spline goes into the wheel and it's unrepairable. Add that to the undisclosed cleared SAI fault codes by the previous owner.

Anyone know where I can get a hold of a black 3-spoke quickly? I've got the air bag etc.

A Rennlister in NJ was selling one recentl;y for $200 or so. Do a search in For Sale, you should find it.

 

I bought one from a junk yard for $125 including shipping.

 

How did the crack happen? Just metal fatigue?
