Passenger side blower fan replacement questions
Just wanted to verify a few points my mechanic is saying.......
1) Does the gas tank need to be removed?
2) How long of a job is it?
3) Any special things need to watch for in doing this job?
4) Blower fan and motor part# 96457201601 costs $639 at Sunset, any other source for less $$ ?
Thanks for any help in advance, I need answer quick !

Hi,
No, the petrol tank does not need to be removed. The fuse box needs to be unbolted/unscrewed and moved out of the way and the firewall behind it needs to be removed but that should be it. The firewall can be taken out without taking the tank out.
Porsche use a special tool to unclip the fan motor from its housing but two flat, thin bladed screwdrivers do just as well.
You should be able to pick up a used motor from a salvage yard for much less I would imagine.

That is the Porsche part number and if that fan is anything like the blower fan in the engine compartment, the motor itself can be bought for a lot less if you get the manufacturer's part number off it.
