Default Front Bumper/Undercarriage Scrapes

I am looking at a 993 Targa that just underwent a PPI. When I received the photos from the shop doing the PPI, Black Forest in San Diego, I was alarmed at the amount of damage to the bottom of the front bumper as well as the panel directly behind the bumper. According to the tech, this is quite common. Is it?

Also, if I do go ahead with the purchase, I would have to have the front bumper repaired and refinished because of a few scrapes and a small ding near the license plate frame plus the scrapes on the bottom of the bumper. Is this an easy repair and does anyone have an idea of the cost for that type of repair repaint. Thanks!

Very common if you ask me, these cars sit low.

+1. Very common. Yeah, don't sweat it. You'll never see the scrapes and even if you do get them repaired, you'll eff the splitters up in short order. Ask me how I know.

Good luck!!

After 12 years of ownership, I finally buggered mine up two weeks ago. Dang. Will fix soon, but it happens often to many. I was just super-extra-extremely-careful up until I wasn't. Now I have the same rash as all the others.

I removed mine and had it resprayed after I got fed up with all the scratches and scrapes. Looks good afterwards and worth the hassle. I also had ramps built for my driveway to help prevent further damage. There are also scrapes present on the floor behind the bumper, but i don't know what to use to repair them.

I hang my head in shame as I can admit that my front underside doesn't look to good. More like what you describe. When I first got the car I miscalculated those #@$% parking stops in parking spaces, and mine is so low that coming out of driveways is always tricky.

All depends on your level of **** retentiveness. Are you driving it daily or shining and staring at it a lot?

Mine has it too. All part of a lowered 993.

mine is also lowered.. Npo scrapes with bar. Just had a new nose put on and painted, old one also had NO minimal scrapes. The bar was installed when original nose was changed. Highly recommend. and it looks good.

You should see mine... Short wheelbase, lowered cars, completely within the norm.

The car will be a driver, I just don't want it look abused. I do like the looks of the bar underneath the bumper.

Agree that it is common. I recently had my front bumper removed and resprayed for $650. Amazing results.

Probably moreso on cars that have been lowered for that "cool" look, expecially if previous owners have a sloping driveway.

Very common, specially if it has been lowered to correct ride height vs the SUV ride height that US cars came with.
