Official Introduction...with pictures!!!
After what seemed like years of waiting (but really only a couple weeks) my Dad and I left from Des Moines, IA to Little Rock, AR at 3 AM yesterday to retrieve my first 911. We arrived in Little Rock around 12:30 PM to find this waiting for me:
A 97 993 C2 6-speed with 57K miles. Black over grey. Stock and unmolested with excellent paint (save for some swirls I will be removing today!!). My Dad and I looked her over, and confirmed this 993 was everything I was expecting to find...and it was!!! At this point all I wanted to do was drive it, or just load it up and get it home so I could really drive it!! The guy I purchased it from lived in a really busy area, so I took it for a short drive and then we loaded it up.
One of the best parts of this trip was also meeting Mother Superior and her husband! JoAnne and Robert met us over at Larry's for the very exciting transaction...my only regret is not being able to stay longer and have a drink or go to lunch. Since my Dad and I were planning to get back to Des Moines by 11 PM to get my mom from the airport, we had some driving ahead of us - with my precious cargo in tow! JoAnne, post up the pics!!!
I now have her home safe in the garage where I will begin comb over the car checking everything. I am planning to detail the car today so I will post up official pictures of it when that is done. I can't wait to get to the fun stuff and be more active on the 993 boards!! Thanks for everyone here for your answers to my questions, etc while I went thru the purchase process.

Congrats and take care of her. Also, what a great way to bond with dad. Both of you will remember this for life. And who knows, you might have a dejavu experience with your kids someday...

Glad you mentioned the swirls...Robert and I are picky when we 'deliver' a car to a new owner. We make sure it is as spotless as possible so we were a little surprised that it wasn't all sparkling clean for you. Spring is the worse time around here. Pollen be GONE!!!! We are weird that way. Clean Clean Clean. The Concours bug is hard to kill!
We wish we could have spent more time with you, but under the circumstances we all had somewhere else we needed to be. Larry tried to get us to stay for a while and talk cars. Once you pulled away he got sad. You could see his face change. His wife said he was going to be a sad grump for the rest of the day. Maybe we should have had that beer with him. I'll give him a call if I still have his number and see if he's okay. I think he's going to miss the car more than he knows until the next one comes along. I think it will happen sooner than Carolyn thinks it will.
Now get to work on those swirls and post fresh pics!
PS: You are both good... no... GREAT huggers.

Congratulations! You always remember your first... 911 of course.
Glad you got to meet JoAnne and Robert. They are good people and we're lucky to have them back in Arkansas.
