Getting old?
Have been driving air-cooled porsches as daily drivers since 1982.
Friend of mine just bought a Fiat Abarth and showed it to me proudly.
The cockpit, even of this small little car, looks like that of a fighter jet:
It has paddle shift, buttons galore for style of driving, suspension settings, etc...
Guess I am an old dinosaur. Just doesn't do it for me. I prefer this:
Cozy, familiar, spartan, just cool...

generally have to agree (except have never been a fan of 964 or 993 steering wheels....i consider them in same class as their 3rd brake light designs, ie a fail).
but compared to competition (bmw mini) the abarth is a very decent pkg. & priced here much better than
the small beemer.
fiat & its brethren (my fav, alfa romeo) are now turning out dependable cars, with a lot more character imo than bmw or daimler....& in terms of styling (inside/out) imo tough to beat the new alfa 'mito' ..... welcome back euro hot hatch.

Stick with what ya got, Phil!!!! One of the things I always liked best about p-cars was the emphasis on functional and avoidance of gimmicks. 996's never did it for me (though I finally got one for a short while in their final year).

i agree.
Our 'old' dash layout is not only cooler, i find that it also presents the information in a clearer way than most modern dashboards do; ie is more functional.

'Morning, Phil! I think it was either my 964 or 993 when I stared long and hard at the "equipment" in my car, and it dawned on me, Hey, this does everything I could possibly want it to do, it's simple and perfect!!!
