Default Porsche, engineered for magic everyday

anybody see the new ad campaign during the Malysian F1 practice/Qually?

I like it ALOT!

I kinda got all weepy and $hit...had to go out into the garage and have a moment with the car. Funny, I have that same expression on my face that the older gentleman had when he fired up the Carrera GTS...when I hear the Fister Stage lll's on start-up.

An intertesting marketing approch, I guess Porsche feels there are folks out there who want to but "just another daily driver car" especially like the "pick up truck" Cayman.

Yeah, they ran those ads during March Madness. I liked 'em too.

Joe,
That commercial made me take the P-Car out for a drive then come home and wash & wax it. Amazing how these cars have such a grip on our lives. I forgot how nice it was to just go for a drive and not have anything to worry about getting done. I don't know about all of you but my Porsche is a form of therapy! From start-up through the gears, it always puts a smile on my face!

You can go to the Porsche site and submit your own stories. (At least as of last week.) Also, I heard of some guys being mailed Flip video cameras to make shorts that could be posted. The one I found interesting was the guy in Alaska talking about having more fun driving his car to/from skiing than probably the actual skiing. (Gee, there's more than one of us.........)

But this is nothing new. It's only recently that people have a 3rd, 4th, 7th car. I was talking to a guy yesterday who's had 5 356s and a few 911s. Probably ending in the 80's. The Porsche was used daily, for whatever he had to do. Wasn't viewed as something that had to be "saved." That was the attitude of nearly all of my customers when I had my shops. The cars needed maintenance and repair, you maintained and repaired them. At some point, that became economically unjustifiable. So it would get parted out, or turned into a track car. You guys now wouldn't believe how quickly some cars got to 100K, even 200K. Refurbishing a pushrod 4 cylinder engine (356/912) was only a step above routine maintenance, and done every few years.
