Default 993 Turbo Twist Input

Figured id turn to you guys to give me the best option here. I have a 1995 C2 Cab with only 27,000 original miles. It came with 993 part numbered 8 and 10" turbo twist solid spoke wheels painted black, which I assume are for a wide body car. They look okay on the car, just a bit aggressive with the offset and I dont think a black wheel goes with a red car to well...I believe they are the 40mm offset rears. I also have a set of 996 CHROME 8s and 11s from a turbo with a 45mm offset. My question is what would look and work best on the car and fit best. My options are refinish the black wheels back to stock silver painted or try and machine 5mm off the 11s and then they will sit about how the 10s sit now. I would ultimately prefer going back to 17" Cup IIs but then would need to buy tires and everything else. What do you guys think. I think because the car is such low mileage I would like it to look as un-molested as possible. So I guess it comes down to Chrome 11" Rears or Silver Alloy 10" Rears...

For a NB 993, 18 x 10 and 18 x 8 are correct. The perfect offset would 50 & 65, so double check yours. If they are OK then yes, refinish them and you're good to go. I'd sell the 996 8's and 11's. Cup II's with tires become available regularly; you just have to watch out for them.

Get the part numbers from the wheels (stamped on the back) and post them. If they are hollow spoke turbo twist for a NB you have some special wheels. For $400 you can get them refinished to their original color. Or, sell them and buy what pleases you.

If they are Porsche wheels you can find the offset on the right side of the valve stem.
Personally I like the 18" 993 turbo twist on the 993. You can have them painted (or do it yourself) any color you like. Solid or hollow would not be meaningful for me on a cab. Obviously the hollows are lighter if that is important for you. Either way you'll want to confirm you have the steering rack brace since it didn't come on the '95 and you should have it if you use 18" wheels.
996 wheels look better on 996s IMHO.

Many folks don't like the look of the chrome wheels on the 993's. Plus the 996 wheels won't fit w/o the machining you mention, so I think those 996 wheels are a non-starter for you. Believe me, I like the 996 turbo wheels (see my avatar), but not in chrome.
+1 on getting the black wheels refinished as suggested, or sell off the 996 wheels apply the $$ to some nice aftermarket wheels with the right offsets (check out the "nicest wheels" thread for some ideas).

993.362.140.03 are the part numbers on the rears...they have an ET40 offset. Should I get 5mm machined off the hub for a better fit on a NarrowBody?

That depends on the tire you want to use. For a 265/35 rear tire you'd want to shave 10mm, for 285/30 tire 20mm or thereabouts. Now, whoever's machining these wheels for you, do they guarantee their work? If done even slightly incorrectly you'll never be able to balance these wheels.

Generally people here don't cut into the wheel to make it fit, they buy another set instead. Several reasons for that, but if you feel confident you can get it done right, then go for it...

Yea they are the best in Phoenix...all the latest machines designed for machining wheels...About all they can take off is 5mm without reinforcing the lug holes. So I guess 5mm off is better than nothing. You are correct 10-15mm would set it more correct but I don't want to get into too much work on the wheels. And yes you are correct different rear wheels would be the best option, but these are here and its only about $35 a wheel to machine, so thats the route im taking...
