Default Car wrap instead of respray?

There was a thread on here the other day regarding a partial wrap, but I would love to here if anyone here has done a full wrap on their 993. I am considering it instead of a complete respray; i spoke this morning with a local PCA member who owns a wrap company and has just done his 911 SC and the photos look great. Anyone here done it?

The cars in that famous 993 commercial were wrapped, as I recall. Of course, you only got a glimpse.

Here's a pretty cool video of a Panamera undergoing the process.

you can do a full wrap, however it will be a matte finish.

keeps your paint original for the next owner....

This is a wrapped 911 race car. Pretty glossy for a matte finish.

Wow....that looks pretty damn good to me. The wrap guys' SC looked just as good, which is why I am seriously considering doing this instead of repainting. Not sure what the downside could be as long as it is installed properly?

Not an expert on "wrapping" ... but I've had clear 3M protection on the front of a couple cars. Downside that comes to mind:

1. It turns a pale yellow/tan color after a few years.
2. Whatever paint blemishes exists prior to the 3M application remain visible.

Not sure these would be the case with the wrap you are considering. But good luck.

I saw Porsches with red and black matte wraps at B-J in January. The red looked awesome. Apparently the black matte finish is worse than gloss black for keeping clean. Everything shows.

SIGNAL GREEN would be awesome on a 993 Turbo or S car.

There are a few vans around here that have wraps on them, they look good from the sides but I noticed the roof is looking a worn after a couple of years, makes me think it does not hold up too well in the California sun.

I have a Polar silver 993 and dream of having it painted black. While the wrap seems very interesting for a colour change, the fact that all interior pannels would be in a different colour is a big turn-off...

How hard is it to remove a wrap without damaging the paint underneath? Is it like our stone guards where there's always a risk of pulling paint off with the wrap?

Original paint will not be damaged by removal of the wrap. Aftermarket applied paint will peel off when the wrap is removed.

Clear Wraps are great for new cars with perfect paint.
Clear Wraps on cars that could use new paint will not work.

Matte Black and Matte white are common wraps over cars with any type of paint.
Most installers only recommend matte finish as gloss is questionable final product.

High Gloss color wraps have yet to prove themselves.....
