the 328 auto trans is a GM unit
had one on loaner and its a real dog
in comparison to the nice ZF unit in my 335.
plus stupid run flat tires make the BMWs ride harsher too.
im a serial german car buyer for 2 decades now lol
and i have been favoring audis for style and comfort in recent years.

Well, after our experiences with the A4, it's encouraging to see the confidence our members have in Audi.

I have owned many BMW's in the past, ranging from M3's to M5's and everything in-between. I liked their older models (anything before 2006). The newer "bangle" designed cars are crap! My wifehas a 2006 325xi wagon and it is easily the worst riding car I've ever been in. Al BMW's come standard with run flat tires. between the run flats and stiff suspension create a very uncomfortable ride quality. Plus it is always in for some knd of service, thank god for the warranty! I have an Audi A6 and have never had a single repair in the last 2 years! Hands down I would go with the Audi A4, in fact I am currently thinking of replacing my A6 with a 2.0T A4 S-Line, for better feul economy.

I'm hoping the Audi folks will come to their senses and start selling the A4 Avant TDI over in North America...

Q7 TDI - too big
A3 TDI - too small

Audi s4 for the win. We have one and love it. Fast, comfortable and the Quattro is impressive. Or daily drive a 997.

I've got a 2010 A3 2.0T Quattro. Its been a fantastic winter car with good tires on it. It does come with the typical German quirks in the throttle mapping and tranny software though (based on my last BMW ownership). A little more room in the back would be nice but then your into an A4 or something even bigger and more $$$.

say what? The 3 series has been lauded as the best car in its class since its introduction.

The bimmer is the better choice and a more substantial vehicle. I had a B5 A4, it was a fun car and I didn't have any issues with it, but it felt light and generally flimsy. My parents owned bimmers forever, and they loved them. I also had e36 and e46 M3s and they were great as well.

You have to drive both.

Ever consider a 204 C-Class with 4matic?

Hey Derek, its been a while. I have to go with the Audi (my wife has a 07 A4 Avant). She absolutely loves it, other than using some oil. I really dont think you could go wrong with either. We looked at the bimmer 328xi wagons and would have probly been happy with it but the in the end we got a better deal on the Audi.
