Default 295/35 18 on MY02's?

The annual hunt for track tires begins.

Is anyone running 295/35 18 in the rear on MY02's without rubbing? If so, at what ride height and with what tires?

I'm eyeing some decently-priced RE050A take-offs but I'm worried that they won't fit or it'll be so close that I'll rub at at the track, even with PSS9's at full stiff.

(I guess at some point I should get slicks and dedicated track wheels, but by using street tires I still have an excuse when comparing lap times. Also, I take weird pleasure from simply throwing all the track gear inside and driving myself home in exactly the same car that I had just finished flogging for hours.)

Thanks!
Michal

Are you going to also put 235 or 245's up front? I do know with 245's up front & being low, you will rub on tight corners, more so if they are bumpy.

If you stick your finger in the wheel well between the tire & fender, that will give you an idea of how much clearance you have, also check the clearance between the tire & the shock, but you should be good there.

I have almost 1" of clearance in the rear now with 285/30, and yes, I'm planning to put 235 in front.

You should be fine, the 295's are only 10mm wider, so 5mm per side.

295/35 has a noticeably taller sidewall. Is there any reason why you're doing that vs. a 295/30 tire?

If you want to try 245's or 235's on the front first you are welcome to test fit my front rims.

You should join the PNW 993 SIG, info is in my sig.

i've run 295-35s on 10" wheels with good success, but they were on a WB.
i would think they would be a likely interference fit on a lowered NB.

I normally wouldn't choose this size, but I'm hunting for cheap take-offs and there isn't much variety. My other option is 295/30 but with narrow (225) fronts.

Thanks for the offer! I have quite a bit of room up there so it should be fine though.

Yeah, it's that height that worries me, especially cornering and over bumps.
