Very interesting read. Not in the market for a Ferrari but I always thought a 348 was in my future garage, but now I'm thinking I'd rather make a Fiero kit of one, or better yet, stick with the p-car.

I actually TRIPLED my money on a 1995 Red F355 Berlinetta.
OK, so it was a 1/18 scale Hot Wheels version, but I bought it for something like $35 and sold it on Ebay a year later for over $100.
I also sold a Black F355 Spider, but I only doubled my money on that one.

The black one might have gotten a bit of my saliva on it one day when I was making the "vroom vroom" noise and pushing it across my desk.

Three Wheelin'
I forget where I heard this, but I think about it every time I consider shopping for an F-car:
Ferrari: Sells cars so they can race.
Porsche: Races so they can sell cars.
OTOH:
guy gets in a new Ferrari, the salesman tells him to breathe in deeply through his nose,
"Smell That?"
"huh? what ...the leather...?"
"Nope....that's the smell of panties coming off."

Very interesting thread... I have a 1995 993 that my wife and I use mostly on the track. I also have a 1997 Ferrari 355 GTS that is mostly used on the street but I do stretch it out on the track once and a while I made sure both cars had the major known problems sorted out before I purchased them and so far both of them have been solid and reliable. As far as costs of ownership... basically the same in dollars but the 993 is used on the track versus the Ferrari mostly used on the street. I guess what I am trying to say is if the 993 was used mostly on the street like the Ferrari then its ownership cost would be less then the Ferrari.

Hmm, I noticed that the current Ferrari owners who praised their car's virtues, along with those who questioned Robin's credentials regarding Ferrari knowledge, have grown very quiet ever since Robin chimed in...

This is such an apples and oranges conversation. I prefer a 911 for all the reasons I dont prefer a Ferrari, for all the obvious reasons everybody in this forum agrees with.
