Marvel's Mystery Oil

Back in the day, I used it for just about any corrosion/rust related problem and even used it to "boil out" some corroded 356 brake cylinders one time...That said, I'd think twice about using it in any modern engine....Oh, and if you want your garage to smell like a "real" shop, just spill a little on the floor and let it soak in an hour or two...It has the half life of about 100 years and you'll smell it every time you open your garage door.

Three Wheelin'
We used to run a half-and-half mix of MM Oil and outboard oil through boat engines for the winter, when I was a kid working at the marinas - which was about a million years ago (or 40, it feels the same ). Time marches on - I think whatever you're thinking of doing with it, there's a better product on the market.

I would not use in in a modern automobile engine unless it was for a specific purpose as Chris Walrod said.
I've used it successfully in certain aircraft engines that were prone to valve sticking problems due to high levels of lead.

Works fantastically on any piston or shock mechanism on exercise equipment (rowing machine, stair stepper,etc.).
Also a quarter teaspoonful every other day will keep you regular as clockwork.

Burning Brakes
Older mechanics swear by the stuff, but I don't know too many people who are still using it.
I used one quart of Marvel and four quartz of regular oil to break in a new 302 Ford racing motor. Stunk for about a month. It has more detergents than standard oil and is very similiar to the old ATF trans fluid. Personally, I wouldn't put it in my Porsche... except maybe in the washer reservoir.

PS: Not being critical of your comment @Robin 993DX -- that is the popular word on the street -- but @dryadsdad 's comment (I think) ends the discussion
PPS: Sorry for bringing up old thread, but thought the debunking was worthy of it
