Default Rough idle and stalling

Before taking delivery of my 98, I had the plug wires and plugs changed out since the wires were apparently original. The car ran fine though the idle was a tad on the rough side, though not unusual to me at the time.

I've put about 300 miles on the car since then, and last night she stalled on me as I engaged the clutch for a down shift. Since I was going pretty slow (turning into my dirveway), I thought that I might have just drug the clutch a little and caused the car to stall.

But, today, once the engine is warmed up, I can duplicate the stalling most everytime by just taking the car out of gear and the idle will drift right on down to zero. Starts up fine everytime, but then I can get her to stall within the next three or four stops.

I have researched the forum and know that the first thing to do is to pull the ISV and clean it, which I will do in the next couple of days. But, my question is about vacuum leaks which could do the same thing. Since a mechanic changed out the plug wires with the motor in the car, where would I need to look for a disconnected vacuum line.

Incidentally, the car does have the LWF that seems to exacerbate the stalling issue. When the car idles ok, it is about 800 rpm.

Any advice would be appreciated.

ISV then Vacuum leaks would be the order I attacked this one in.

There are alot of vacuum lines in the v-ram engines and very easy to dislodge them while doing the wire replacement. A thorough inspection following each line would be a starting point, however some form of smoke or fogger is needed to really source out the issue, if there is a leak.

I have never heard of the LWF issue affecting cars later that '95, I would start with the above, chances are the ISV is the culprit.

I forgot to ask, how many miles are on the car?

Attack the ISV at that mileage and I would think you will have found the culprit, good luck.

While things are being checked, might want to be sure there aren't some crossed ignition wires, easy to do at the distributor. Also check the distributor belt. Is the mechanic local, I would think he should be doing this for you?

Default fuel filter

replace the in line fuel filter..first, then try the rest of stuff later
unplug all sensors & re-plug them
also check ,inside the distributor cap (clean inside)
makesure all plug wires r on tight

sometimes when there is a light flywheel u have to tinker with the RPM
c if this help
