Default Need Help - Clutch Pedal Issue

Just put in a new clutch along with a new slave cyl & hose. The clutch pedal goes to the floor (not all the way, but almost) and stays there. On search this seems to be a bleeding issue.

I bled the slave cyl once right after connecting the hose and now twice more with everything back together (each time about pint and a half of brake fluid). No Joy.

Any suggestions? Bleed again? Replace master cyl??

I've experienced this too and the solution will (hopefully) be easier than you think. Simply cycle the clutch pedal over and over (in the beginning, you may need to reach down and pull it up with your hand). You will hopefully find that after doing this for a while the clutch pedal will return normally.

Cheers,
Joe

Default Great Trick

Joe, Three cheers to you! That did the trick.

I did about 200 cycles by hand and a few more by foot. Now, better than ever!

Thanks!

Do you do this with the engine off or on, or does that matter?

Off. Engine running or not really wouldn't matter as ultimately you're just pressing the release fork.

No real explanation why these this happens sometimes to these things, but it sure freaked me out on the first G50 car I did a clutch on ~20 years ago.

The engine doesn't need to be running in my experience - at least on the N/A cars without power assisted clutches. I don't have experience with hydraulic power assisted clutches (like those on the turbo), but I'd guess they should be the same.

Joe
