Isn't "Richardew" up over 300K now? Look for the pic of the aventurine green with a snow mustache for an avatar.
Last I checked the car was IRIS BLUE! LOL. This is the third winter off for the beast. Back in '08 I bought an expendable car to drive in the winter ('08 335XI). There were only 11xx '96-'98 C4 cabs built. The engine is still untouched. It is a pain to pass PA emissions as it will throw an SAI CEL every 1000 miles of so. Looks like msw has a few miles on me, but I'll catch up soon.
I have enjoyed the British cable show with Mike and Ed China. They fix up old interesting cars they've bought on the cheap. My favorite, so far, was their fixing up an old 911 (I think an SC - but not sure). I can't recall any car they've done this to that required any internal engine work. Even though some of these cars are over 20 years old - and no matter how badly the previous owner(s) treated them, the engines seem (with Ed China doing some tune up type work) to run fine.
To me, a car is first and foremost transportation. If a car can't do that reliably, it (in my case) is history. What has pleased me about my 993 (4 years owned and counting) is it has been reliable. Knock on wood, it has never stranded me - even when the engine wiring harness was nearly toast.
