What Porsche would you replace your 993 with?

Can I throw a reality wrinkle in here by refining the question to limit yourself to a replacement costing the amount you would get in today's dollars for your 993, which is $25K-$40K for most of us? OK, now go back and fix your answers. I'll wait. No '73 RS, No 997 GT3, no frozen Nibblets.
In my case, probably:
- a very nice 3.2 (maybe Targa for a change of pace)
- 996 Turbo. OK, I may have to pony up $5-7K out of pocket.

What I find interesting is the number of you that said GT3. I've driven 996/997/997RS GT3's and have to say, they are the closest feel to a 993 since the 993 stopped production. What amazes me is how many people say a GT3 is not a good DD "it's too stiff, too rough, etc"... I think a lot of P-car owners have gotten soft. When I drove my first 996 GT3, it felt a lot like the 993, but more of everything: more power, more feel, more control, more balance.

GT3 or Boxster Spyder. The Spyder is a serious consideration.

I could show you what we did replace it with.... No not the Carrera GT. I'm still wanting a 993 DD and am waiting patiently for the perfect one to roll my way.

seriously looked at the 964 C4 WB's..always loved the look. I've been a 84-89 T & TL fan most of my life-would probably go back there if a 993 couldn't be done.
But, honestly...if I couldn't have a 993 WB, maybe I'd go to another car I love but will probably never own-a BMW M Coupe.
S54 and awaaaay you go!

If money was no option, but I had to trade in my 993 for any other Porsche... A 906. Of course a street legal 917 would be pretty sweet too, but I think they only made 2.

A 959... I practically salivated over the 959 when it came out (in the 80's).
Not for nuffin', but if you look at the styling - esp. the front of the 959 - and (case in point) the side-air-grills -- and then look at the front of your 993 -- and then look just in front of your front wheels -- you'll see the very same air-grills. :-O

the 959 made me fall in love with the 911. the 993 made me want to own one.... i own a 968. when the car is finished (and can reach 190 mph), i may get a 997. i love 993s, but i do happen to like the 997s more. a 993 makes you feel like you're connected to the car - and road. so i should like a 993 more, but i prefer the feel of the larger car... less of a shock compared to driving my big, old 968 boat.

If I would replace my 993 I would go for a '09 997 turbo manual , NO rear wiper (deal breaker). And it would have to be in a funky color. Or white.

Thinking of getting rid of you old friend, Bob? Hmmm, I don't have any intention of replacing mine, but a fee things that might apart my interest:
- Early 911, with sports purpose touches
- 3.2 clubsport (just a tuned 3.2 would actually be the most likely)
- Really nice RSA
- 997 GT3 ( would prefer RS)
Of course there is the 73 RS and other dream cars, but I would likely be afraid to drive them.

Not really, just a conversation that came up recently. I don't drive it for a week and start daydreaming about other things (wife drives it to work every day). Then I get a chance to drive it and realize how great of a car it is. Glad you still like yours! (OT, you going to Daytona by chance?)
Funny thing - figure I owned Exclusive Motors for 6 years and could have had just about any car I wanted, but I kept the 993 cab through it all.

Probably one of these:
'89 Coupe (I had an '89 targa. Loved it, but the wife was never a fan of the roof-off thing.)
'71 Targa (year I was born, wife would never ride in it though!)
997.2 C4. (It would become my DD)
But you can have the keys to my 993 when you pry them from my cold, dead fingers...
