I've been looking for a 993 for several months locally here in the Middle East - and decided to get a 996 Turbo as "interim driver" until the ultimate 993 NA WB Coupe is for sale. Great car, perfect, and probably drives circles around a 993. But it's just not the same...

Hmm . . . if I'm spending my own money (as no one else ever offers to buy me a car!) . . .
I think a 997 C4S Cab. I wouldn't drive it year round, but I'd certainly slap on some snows and run it into and out of the shoulder seasons here, where the 993 goes away when temps dip towards freezing

If I could afford a new 997 cab right off the dealer lot I would give up my 993 for it. That's about it though. It must be a great feeling to be the first owner of a 911.

Can I throw a reality wrinkle in here by refining the question to limit yourself to a replacement costing the amount you would get in today's dollars for your 993, which is $25K-$40K for most of us? OK, now go back and fix your answers. I'll wait. No '73 RS, No 997 GT3, no frozen Nibblets.
In my case, probably:
- a very nice 3.2 (maybe Targa for a change of pace)
- 996 Turbo. OK, I may have to pony up $5-7K out of pocket.
