Default What is this warning light? Not mentioned in owner's Manual.

Hello,

A light warning light came on today on my 1995 993 C4 coupe. The light is not listed in the owner's manual nor supplemental manual. I have yet to find any mention of it online. Any help would be appreciated!

It is located on the Clock and positioned just under the 3:00 number. It looks like a small rectangle with a small circle within a circle towards one end of the rectangle (like a button). Then there are 3 semi-circles a little bit in front of the rectangle. It looks like a remote control unit that is emitting a signal.

When it comes on, it flashes at a slow interval rather than stays constant. And, interestingly, it does not light up the "!" main indicator warning light that so often comes on along with other lights.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Default Image of warning light

Was unable to get a photo that is legible. Below is a state of the art rendition.

I do not believe it the brake warning as that is a circle with lines projecting all around. No seat warmers so not sure it is an over heated indication.

I was thinking it may be immobilzer as well, but I can start and drive away. very odd.

Immobilizer. But your car's a 95 so you have no immobilizer.

Thanks. I will explore that further. Probably why it is not in the manual (but the light is in the car).

I do have the kill switch feature on the ignition key, which I always thought was tied to an immobilizer of some sort. But again, I can drive the car.

Scott-- Your rendition's the immobilizer light. Porsche produced owners manuals in Dec 1994 with more information on page 14. First paragraph under "Status display of immobilizer" reads:

Since you said your owners manual didn't have the above info in it, let me know if you need more transcribed (but it appears to go for 3 more pages ).
Hopefully helpful. Good luck, & welcome to Rennlist!

Actually many 1995 993's have immobilizers, it depended on the production dates and my personal 993 built on May 18th 1995 has it and also the third brake light at the top of the rear window.

My '95 does. I think it depends on the month of production.

Default Must be Immobilizer

Hi and thanks for all the information.

It must be the immobilizer - though I can start and drive, so maybe it is blinking to state it is failing?

Jäger, thanks for the manual reference. My page 14 does not have the information. I initially searched the manual looking for the light's image and have since read through looking for any reference to immobilizer - no information (nor in the supplemental).

I know I have a very early model 993. When I went to buy, I wanted a Polar Silver C2 - but none existed yet, so I opted for the c4 (yay!) as there was one available on the West Coast. My manufacturer date is 11/94, but I digress...

So now I just have to determine why it is blinking and driving. Thanks again for all the feedback.

I believe the immobilizer system was an option in 95. Note that 95 was a very long model year with the first cars manufactured around 2/94. Your car, being built in 11/94, is actually a mid-year model.

Cheers,
Joe
