Default Engine Out - Extras To Do

Guys,

I am giving some thought to having my shop drop the 993 engine this winter. My car has 37,000 miles on it and has never had an engine out service.

I have made what I think is a pretty comprehensive list of other "To Do's" - plugs and wires, clutch, slave cylinder, power steering belt, valve covers and gaskets..... I was wondering if anyone had a list made from their own experiences that they could share with me? It can be as complete or 'over the top' as you like. I can slice and dice it for my car.

I tried to search this topic but couldn't find the right combination of search definitions to come up with anything. If anyone has a good list, I would appreciate the help. You can email it to me directly:

m.capocefalo@aainy.com

Thanks.

According to this TSB: http://pcarworkshop.com/images/4/42/...6_6tu10196.pdf

You should replace all the hardware you remove, I made the basic parts list below before I started my project but it has grown since then.

I also did timing cover and tensioner gaskets with new nuts, finished changing the intake lifters, cleaned intake and replaced the intake screws, remove the injectors and have them cleaned and checked (this should be mandatory), new transmission mount, cleaned and painted the fan and housing, it just goes on and on.

Just so you know at 37K mi. I seriously doubt the power steering belt is anywhere close to being worn out. I did mine on my engine drop last month but it was because I was going to use an OEM belt (Gates) which was less than 1/2 the price of a OE Porsche belt (Porsche belts are made by Gates). My belt at 35K mi was barely broken in. My suggestion, if you're paying a shop to do it leave it for the clutch job or 90k mi. service, whichever comes first.
