Bump to know if you guys are still happy with the BT900. Did either of you look at the x994?

Still love it. I bought an iPod Shuffle, loaded it up and threw it in the glove box, and have not touched it in six months. The phone also works great. They use the Parrot Bluetooth stack which geeks will tell you is probably the best Bluetooth stack available - especially for pairing cell phones. Highly recommend. In fact, I just bought another one for my son's Saab!

Glad to know you like the unit. I bought the BT742 for my dd and really do not like it. The controls are very counter-intuitive, bluetooth is terrible (has only a built-in mike), and it is constantly downloading by phonebook from droid.

Does the bluetooth interface also stream audio files, or do you have to have direct plug-in? Is the Android OS supported?

Yes, it streams BT audio but I have not used since the day I had it installed. I don't like taking the time to set it up before I start driving. My phone is a Nexus One, so yes Android works fine.

I had the lower end BT103 and it worked great for the money.

Anyone else thought about this? WHat ideas do you have?
Already did it with the Porsche logo. Use google and you will find plenty to chose from.

But will the music interface work with the unit like the way an iPod does.

I'm so confused The folks at Crutchfield said the 900 will NOT stream audio unless I also got the BT unit that is sold separately. They said the one in the 900 doesn't have ASDM (or something like that) but the 994 and a couple of others will. What's a fellah to do?

I stand corrected. The KIV-BT900 unit in my Porsche does not stream BT Audio. It's my Lexus that streams BT Audio (a feature I've only used once). For the record, I've never found streaming BT to be much use. It's not nearly as convenient to use as simply hooking up an iPod and pressing play - and it rapidly drains your phone battery.

Thanks for the clarification. The only reason I even conceived of using streaming was so that I could be listening to music and have my navigation app on my phone cut in when its time to do something. Thanks for the reply.

I got mine installed this weekend. I am still playing with the USER settings for the light color. Does anybody have any suggestions for the RGB numbers to get close to the off-white of the incandescent bulbs?

Also, still working on getting a Porsche crest on as a wallpaper. I THINK I have it stored to the internal memory, and still need to get it to display...

I'd just love somebody to figure out how to get the Ipod video to work!

I bought mine from Rod Birch at Car Audio Innovations. He built me a "plug-n-play" harness that had a plug for the emergency brake plug. It went into a matching round, light green plug in the power harness in the car. (I had a CDR220 in there) Whatever it is, it works, allowing video from iPod onto the screen with the car moving/emergency brake off.

Give him a call, I am sure he can help sort it out.
