How about we do it in April or May, when I haven't spent all my cash on Christmas?

I will have to second that of Falcondrivr. Bonus time is not until April. :-( Darin, that reminds me that I still have to send you a sample of my boxster red carpet for my floor mats.

To reconfirm, these seat currently will NOT allow a 5 or 6 point harness setup (no bottom seat cushion opening). Correct?

So... in the event that they can be modified to do so, would you be comfortable using these seats for a few DEs per year?

I am currently shopping for seats - I plan to do 10-15 DE-type sessions per year(certainly not races!!). Would it be very dangerous to do them with these seats? I currently use the stock seats as my car is a DD...

Thanks!

If by modifying you mean cutting, then no. Cutting a hole in the seat bottom compromises the structural integrity of the seat. You won't even pass tech inspection in Zone 1 PCA. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable strapping myself in a 5/6 point harness in any seat that doesn't meet FIA standards. There is a whole science behind the safety regulations. Race seats have to pass rigorous testing to be approved. And even so, the track life of the seat is only 5 years.

Thanks ilko.

I understand why FIA certification expires after five years, but would you really have issues using a harness with fia approved seats that are slightly older (but in good condition)

Darin - can you confirm the final weight of the seats you installed in your car inclusive of all the mounting hardware (sliders)?

The timing is right I'm about to pull the trigger on (or maybe not now) Recaro Pole Positions. Wondering how they might compare, weight, safety, quality, comfort in case anyone can offer an opinion??

Thanks,

Jordan

I wouldn't in a green group DE. I would in a situation that involves driving at the limit and taking risks. My neck is worth more (at least my wife thinks so) than a $600 seat.

And I don't mean to speak negatively about these seats in particular since I've never sat in them and have no idea of the craftsmanship or their structural rigidity. But I know my PCA region does not allow the popular GT3 replica or any other replica seats so you might want to ask the scrutineers at your local club about their policy on aftermarket seats.

I don't think there are any folding/reclining seats that are FIA approved, except maybe the new GT2 seats.
