We did some F1 days @ MMC this year in Damon Hills Arrows F1 car equipped with Cosworth V8 Vs. original Judd V-10.
The mind can not process what happens in these cars. It takes special eye movement, reflexes etc. . To much power for the average driver.
Most schooled drivers could not even launch the car out of pit lane.

Of course the lead times given to the first two cars is always such to provide the usual outcome.

Since the 2013 rules came out and call for a 1.6L 4cyl turbo engine we might see Porsche back in F1.
There has even been some discussion with FIA about a "world" engine supplied by Porsche.

Bizarrely enough, back in the 90's a British car mag (can't remember which one) realized that a McLaren F1 road car out-accelerated period Formula 1 race cars from 160mph on up. The reason was that the Formula 1 racecars generated such colossal amounts of downforce (and thus drag) that the slick by comparison McLaren F1 road car had their measure and then some up to 200mph and beyond. Serious forces of Mother Nature goin' on there......

And back in the early 70s, a Porsche 917 would do 60 in 2.1s, 100 in 3.9s and 200 in 13.4s.
Not bad for old tech.
And if you want to see what 0 to 200 MPH looks like in 13 seconds, this is a view looking back...
