Default Installed DAS roll bar photos

Struggling to search the archives for clear and detailed photos of an installed DAS roll bar, particularly the front attachment points, how they connect to the transverse bar, and how it all fits together with the side panel upholstery when retaining the stock 3-points.

I assume the side panels can be buttoned back up without needed to be cut.

Anyone recall a thread that shows this, or worst case, willing to snap some good photos and post please?

Thanks!~

Matt

Hi Matt+ - fellow Montrealer / Porsche owner here.

Unfortunately, I don't have the requested pictures, but I was wondering what type of seats you planned on using with the roll bar. I also want to go for the DAS set-up, but I can't find recaro PPs to try out anywhere in this city. Very frustrating!!

Thanks

Grand Prix Import has them in their showroom.

Matt
that is the most challenging part of the install.
replacing the side panels without bending / breaking them to fit past the transverse bar is NOT fun.

hope you have better luck than me

i gave up on it and sold to someone more motivated

I didn't take any pics when I had the stock side pieces in there but it wasn't a big deal to install them behind the DAS ends. I did have to grind the ends of the DAS mounts to allow the seat belt reel to sit right. The side panels didn't need any modification at all.

I do have pics w/ the RS carpet

I had this in my previous car... no issues installing it with stock trim at all, easy afternoon project.... The only gotcha: there is a wiring harness on the passenger side under the carpet that needs to be relocated otherwise it gets pinched.

Sorry no pics....

My experience was in line with Bill's.

Dwane, I love that car! I wish I saw it when I was at WeTune this past summer. Maybe next summer.

I'm installing Euro GT3 seats. Installation pain will be nothing compared to the discomfort of squeezing my fat *** into them in spring unless I get in shape...

You're welcome to try them once they're in.

Figured, while the car is getting the 9-week and counting 30K mile service, it was best to leave it there. With the early snow, she ain't moving.

Great install tips guys. Thank you all - very helpful.

Will resurrect this thread if (when) I get stuck (don't leave me!)

Best regards,

Matt

Matt, one other thing to mention... Before you loosen the seat belt retractor look at the angle it sits at. IIRC there is a boss in the retractor that seats in a little hole to set the retractor vertical. You need to preserve this angle or you will have issues with locking when you are trying to buckle in.

Dwane, I haven't done any RSR events in a few years since vacation time is very scarce and most events are during the week. I can hit CMP days on the weekends. Was at LCMT for a charity lap this summer and remembered how much I miss it.

That was exactly why I had to grind a bit on the end of the DAS plate, the little nub on the retractor wheel was holding the base proud of flush
