Should I be concerned about posting my car plates on the web? I see pics of cars with their registration tags on full display and then find others who mask, cover or PS out the details. What info can nefarious types gleen from these letters and digits that are on full display to the general public all the time.
I'm dying to post a pic of the new black and white TX plates I recently installed. So much better looking than the multicolored standard plates currently issued.

One issue would be uninsured track use (if you are planning to lie to your insurer when you ball it up).

Another would be your plate somehow being ultimately connected to your residencial address when someone is internet shopping for a "special order" piece.

I think it's just a by-product of the kinda of society we live in. We've become accustomed to thinking that people can glean all our information from small bits like our plate numbers. I think those who blur their plates are taking the better safe than sorry route.
Personally, I think if there was ever any loophole that allowed anyone to get info from a license plate, I would imagine it has been closed in our post-9/11 security and fear based world.

The point is that you drive with this plate attached to your car all day long for everyone to see, so what's the difference if they see it online?

Registrations include full name, address and DOB in most states. Yes, anyone can get your tag number by just driving down the road but the 'bad' people out there worldwide will look for the more expensive cars on-line (ebay, Rennlist, etc..) and then try to use that info for whatever purpose they see fit. So why advertise? If I lived in an expensive home or had $$ I would probably blur out the tag info too.. Just a side note: The registration info is easily available. As a former law enforcement officer in FL we had our personal vehicles info 'blacked out' by the computers in Tallahassee due to easy access of vehicle registrations. Otherwise we or our families could have been easy targets for the bad guys, especially the drug trade we dealt with in FL.

I've posted many pics on here with plate in full view. As of yet I have not been robbed/invaded/kidnapped. It is only Wednesday though.
