993 value

I did not personally drive the car (I live on the east coast) so I can't comment directly. Salerno thought the clutch was OK, ie. not slipping. As for the availability of the car, I can only go by what the seller emailed me.

I would walk away. He clearly is aware of the PPI DeadHead performed and still represents it as "CLEAN".
Also looks like you can offer him less, but he's not going to accept it based on his and your $34k offer already.
I just purchased my 993 less than month ago for $28k with 27k miles, 100% original, 9.5/10 and 2 issues. 1 super tiny door ding and 1 rock chip. My point is not to gloat, but to say there are deals to be had out there with the time of season alone. This isn't one based on all I have read and the price.
You must have some beer goggles going on to stick around for this one. (I don't mean that disrespectfully either)

I know its frustrating and I fell in love a couple times before I found the "one" so it feels very fresh still for me. It's always easier sitting here telling you to walk away. It's much harder to be in your shoes and actually wave goodbye when your emotionally invested.
Hang in there and hope to see pics of the "one" soon

I'm in NJ. For comparison I recently sold my 1998 C2S with 50k miles for $42k, so the one you mention in VA sounds like it's priced correctly. So many other variables to consider, including condition, color, options and maintenance history.

Wanted to "trade down" to a NB coupe. I was interested in that coupe because I liked the white exterior/sport seats combination but prefer to purchase in the high 20's range. I will take Tony's advice and be patient. The right car (and seller) will come.

i sold my C2 2 years ago for $32k w/55k miles and bought a NSX. Missed the 993 and recently sold the acura. And now i am hunting for another nice 993. This 993 in Rocklin we looked at is nice but he wants too much for it.
