Default Engine dropped, projects to be done

I think I've got everything disconnected (inc. slave cyl. & both engine mount bolts) and the engine is down about 4 in. but I can't figure out how to remove the forward tranny "H" bracket (?). the one that has a horizontal bolt through the front of the tranny and 2 bolts under where the shifter/e-brake opening is.

The instructions on P-car workshop are for a C4 and mine's a C2, they're completely diff. up there. The bolt is too long to come out in the "tunnel" and the assy is not dropping down far enough to remove it.

What am I missing? I will try to get a photo after I do a little more searching on it.

After looking at the photo on Andreas' and Nsulley's tranny only drop it looks like I should remove the 2 forward bolts from inside the e-brake access.

https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...e+transmission

It's the black 2-arm support on the front of the tranny.

That is correct, remove the two bolts that fasten those supports into the tunnel. 19mm head on those bolts and a bit of a reach, but doable.

Quitting for the night. Got the tran. brackets off. Tran is falling like it should. Engine is dropped about 9 in. (both mount nuts are long out).

Only hangup is the throttle cable. Got the swivel pin off (end of cable disconnected) just need to figure out how to get the cable through the grommet and out.

This is a challenging task doing it by myself but it's coming.

I just couldn't get enough to break those 19mm bolts free until I lowered the rear end of the tunnel cover plate (why couldn't they make that 2 sections??). Once I had about 3" of drop I could get enough english on the bolts to break them free.

Got it dropped, amazing what a little sleep will do for an old guy.

Project List:
- LWF and Clutch kit (FD Motorsports)
- Rear main engine seal
- Valve cover gaskets and bolts
- Engine pad replace (thinking I may leave it off completely)
- Cam chain gaskets and grommets - done
- Plug wires (now ordered)
- Power steering belt replace
- Check torque on intake manifolds
- Clutch slave cylinder (maybe)
- Clean ISV
- Clean SAI passages & replace Check Valve
- Several O-rings replaced

- FD Motorsports Stage II job on my motorsound mufflers (Stage II.5 ?)

Bill,
Bravo! Consider the power steering belt - due to age rather than mileage.

She's nigh impossible to do with the engine in.

Roger that. There are a few things I'm on the border about (plug wires being one) but I think the PS belt should be much cheaper so I'll go ahead and do that one.

Parts do add up...... but hey, look what I'm saving on labor!

This being a 96+. get the SAI passages cleaned out. Probably easier with the engine out and on a stand.

Thanks for the reminder, I had planned on doing this but it hadn't made it to any of my lists. It will be now.

Now I need to go downtown (Nashville) and borrow somebody's guitar for a while.......
