Dan, are you sure about that ID.

5/8 * 25.4 mm = 15.875 mm when you need an 8 mm ID. Thats almost double the size.

Edited to add: I think you meant 5/16 ID (8 mm). The above part numbers are correct. Great site, BTW.

McMaster-Carr PN: 92510A804 - 0.315 ID x 3/4" OD x 3/4" long.

Shipping cost to BC, Canada is $3.25.

No affiliation, just like to recognize a supplier who is willing to provide service
Thanks for the link.

Consider coming to Nakusp for the Targa West Rally May 13-14.

A bunch of Porschenites are coming through Vernon Friday, the 13th, on their way to Nakusp for the event.
We usually meet at the Mall parking lot Jctn 97 & 6 around noon.

Anyone know the REAL belt size for the outer pulley on 1990 C2 manual? The dealer and vertex gave me a 9.5 x 776 and it is too big. Pulley is loose, and belt screeches, and this is with no shims in the middle. I see online all retailers sell the 9.5 x 760 as a part just for automatics. The Porsche updated 993 pulley bulletin I saw in this thread states if installed on 911 cars to use a 760mm belt..Very confused. Maybe I will just try a 760mm belt and see what happens.

Hi,

Try the 964 forum; they'll know.

Bringing up an old thread, but just came across this. Really good idea.

Was thinking. Wouldn't a coupling nut work? Would require less parts.

Quite a few places. McMaster Carr has them for one.

It's an 8mm coupling nut. May have to cut it to size, nothing major.

Three types right here:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#hex-nuts/=x1u487

Two at 38mm length would have to be cut and another at a 19mm length may work without modification.

That's only the first place I looked.

Did you have to use a longer 8mm bolt to accommodate the spacer?

Either way I'm doing this mod. I love anything that saves time.

Re the triple square tool, I use the one from snap-on (see following link).

This post reminded me to check my tools. I have the Porsche tool which is a very sloppy fit in the alt shaft. My Bluepoint tool on the other hand was too large to go more than one mm into the shaft. I spent a little time with needle files and abrasive cloth cleaning the notches and slightly reducing the OD of the Bluepoint tool and now it fits snugly in the shaft. So the moral is check before you need it on a dark rainy night on the interstate and snug is good. This post was not initially intended to be erotic in nature but just wound up that way. Sorry.
