Default Porsche Factory Tour

We are going to Germany next spring, and I want to see the Porsche factory, and museum too. Any tips on how to flange that up? I understand my dealer needs to set it up, true?

We did the tour over a decade ago...well worth it.
I called PCNA to set it up...Much easier than the dealer route.
Have fun.

Yes, your dealer needs to make the appointment for you. If you just show up, you may be able to see the museum, but you won't get a factory tour (very worthwhile). The same is true of the Mercedes plant, which is not far away from Porsche, and well worth seeing, too.

Greg-

I went last summer and did the factory tour and museum. I made my reservation through the Porsche website. I'll see if I can find the link. Also, if you are a PCA member and show your membership card, you get into the museum free. Have a good trip

You might try contacting the Porsche Travel Service through your dealer. They will also rent you a new Porsche and plan a trip to your specs. Drop-offs all over Europe.

The Porsche museum is open to all - but closed on Monday like most museums in Germany. Factory tours need to be scheduled in advance but are typically no problem.

Contact: Paul Gregor <Paul dot Gregor at porsche dot de> Club factory contact,
Copy: Julia Becht <julia dot becht at porsche dot de>,
Rudolf Baumeister <rudolf dot baumeister at porsche dot de>

Dealer may be able to get "premium" tour (longer in duration). English or German speaking tour.

Plan well in advance and be flexible if something changes. Gather at Museum before 10AM, tours assemble there. Underground parking at museum or tram/train stop across the street from museum. No pictures in factory, plan to stand for 2-hours with walking and stairs. Well worth the effort.

Also factory tour in Leipzig if "up north".

Factory & Museum Tours:

Generally the factory tours should be booked 2 - 3 months in advance. If you look below you will see the general information (in "blue") I usually send to club members who are interested in a tour. In addition to this there is a link to the information on the Porsche Factory and Museum tours on the PCA.org website under ....

http://www.pca.org/AboutUs/PorscheInformation.aspx

Pls send a mail to Christian Hoenniger requesting a factory tour naming a preferred date (and one or two alternatives). I am certain he will reply to you directly.

*****************************

I am glad to hear that you are thinking of coming over to visit us this year. With regards to the factory tours I can inform you that ....

- there are both English and German tours which are free of charge ... however they MUST be booked at least 2-3 months in advance.
- tours run from Monday to Thursday (English tour every day starting@ 10.00 am)
- all tour participants must be at least 18 years of age
- the tours start in the lobby of the new Porsche museum.
- a written request will be required in any case for each tour booking
- as a hint .. when submitting your request be sure to name your preferred date (with at least 2 alternatives)
- the tours the Zuffenhausen factory tour can be booked by ....

1) calling Mr. Christian Hoenniger at +49 711 911-25384,

2) sending Mr. Hoenniger a fax at +49 711 911-25111 or

3) sending an e-mail to factorytours@porsche.de

I highly recommend a visit to the new museum. No reservations are necessary and detailed information can be found under .... http://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutporsche/porschemuseum/.

I hope this information helps you in your planning. Should you have any other questions pls feel free to contact me again.

Best regards,

Paul.

Sorry about that, if they are no longer valid mail address (note I edited to add a space before "at" for Julie's). It was a 2-year old email from Paul G. during booking my last tour. Maybe they moved on, but Paul was the primary contact back then and may still be a good direct source. Enjoy!

I tried to get into Leipzig at the last minute in May '09, but they weren't doing any tours right then unless you were doing part of the driving "experience." Anyone else been there? Also, anyone been to Weissach?

(Did the factory tour in '99, and did get to the new museum last year.)

I did a tour of Leipzig about 3 years ago, drove on the track and then drove on the Autobahn to Stuttgart(911), toured there and then finished up at Weissach.
The Porsche People are marvelous hosts
