I pointed out the 993 to the wife immediately upon seeing the trailer, as well. Just might have to go see it; earn credits with my better half, get to see a 993 cab in a movie and Hathaway naked.........sweet.
Looks like it is period set in the mid '90s, so the 993 was the new 911 of the time. Would kinda like it better if it was period set for today and the character just liked/appreciated the 993 for what it is (the best 911 ever

I have never seen the movie but I think he was in the gay cowboy movie "brokeback mountain". Ironic you mentioned " he can't handle the stick"...yuck.
