Apropos that, a few years ago I read "The Gold Plated Porsche" by Stephan Wilkinson - an interesting autobiographical story revolving around the building of an old 911 - and in the narrative, Steve W is the guy the author procures (you guessed it) mechanical help and advice from!

I'll jump over from the 964 forum to add my $.02 here...
I am very lucky to have our man Steve literally in my neighborhood. I feel honored to be able to call him a good friend. I can, and do walk to his house once in a while. He was able to help me with a feeler gauge shim at 9 PM on a weeknight. "Great guy" only begins to tell the story. But +1+1+1 on the free advice part. I am sure I am preaching to the choir, but maybe we can remind others that Steve is not only an expert who is always there to help, but he makes his living providing parts and solutions- he's not in it just for the pleasant conversations. I have seen him literally spend 90 minutes on the phone resolving problems for owners only to have them ask him what parts they should order from Vertex or elsewhere... Please keep that in mind when you dial... Karma runs both ways.
(sorry for the soapbox, but he's too nice/shy/polite to say anything, clearly I am not.)

The best advice I received in my quest for new suspension was from Steve. He didn't tell me what shocks or springs to use, instead he advised that I spend time staring at myself in the mirror and become really honest with the kind of driver I am and want to be.
