Default Very difficult downshift 4th>3rd under heavy braking

Last week at Thunderbolt, my 1995 993 would not downshift into 3rd under heavy braking. Shifts fine on the street and in the paddock, and other downshifts are fine.
I was earlier noticing that up-shifts in general were a bit notchy.
I am guessing that this is motor and/or trans mounts. The mounts were last done in 2005 or so, and this is a track-only car (maybe 10k miles since new mounts).
Suggestions?
Thanks

Motor mounts are my guess.

Had the exact same problem. Turned out one of the polyurethane pillows in my Wevo mounts was torn and falling apart...replaced it and have never had the problem again.

I'm hoping you are all right; will let you know when we tear into it.
Thanks for the input; I haven't been over here on the 993 board for awhile (spending way too much time on the Racing board).
