Default Cylinder Head Temperatue Gauge

Anyone install a CHT with the sensor located under the spark plug? If so, what sensor you used and what did you have to do to make it fit? Seemed there is virtually no room for the sensor in the spark plug hole.

Here is the sensor I am thinking of.

What a great idea if you can get it to work. Is that a thermocouple? Standard "pickup" for temperature?

Air cooled aircraft engines use them.
6 cylinder probes are available, also for exhaust gas temperature.
Probably more information than we need for our P cars.
Check out Electronics Internation in Bend, Oregon....they are one mfgr for the aircraft type, might be adaptable if you are serious.

Yes.

Omega makes an assortment of bolt-on washer thermocouples.

According to the Porsche parts catalog, there is a location for what looks like a screw-in temperature sensor. I remember seeing threaded holes in the cylinder head the last time I was working on my car.

Of course, you'd want one for each cylinder head with a selector switch to view each temperature on the gauge. If one cylinder head is known for running hottest (like #3 on a VW Beetle, I believe), you'd install a sensor on it.
