...or LMP1. I would think that Porsche has the better engine design engineers. It will be interesting because whoever VW decides should go into F1, will also be positioned within the company as the top "sports car brand".

...and then possibly only as an engine supplier. Well on the positive side there was a report that we could have F1 in Texas in 2012 so if that sticks we'd get to see it here.

You'd have to imagine VW will keep Audi in the endurance prototype business, but with real competition (witness Petit this weekend, the Lion roared again) they can't just walk over everyone like they used to.
Ferrari will leave F1 if the 1.6liter inline 4 turbo rules go through. Winning in F1 without Ferrari is not quite as good.
I would imagine if it's really 'top sports car brand' then we'll see Porsche develop an F1 engine but I'd rather see VW enter F1 as VW (regardless of who does the bulk of the engine work).
I may never get to LeMans, the only way I'm going is if Porsche is the prototype team going for overall win. Audi's vote to keep doing that has to carry a lot of weight in Wolfsburg.

more tidbits on VWAG/Porsche/F1:

and for me, IF Audi stays the LMP brand and Porsche goes F1, it couldn't be a better hookup (for me) than with Williams.

I agree! It's about time Porsche went back to LMP1/prototype and take overall WIN at Le Mans!
Let Audi/VW go to F1... Its kinda boring to see Peugeot keep winning...

Ferrari aint going anywhere...
It would be nice to see Porsche back in F1. They already have some F1 World Championships under their belt.
I agree, I would like to see the return to LeMans. They have been threatening for several years but kept saying who are they going to race? Audi ie themselves. They wanted to see more competetion before returning.
