I've spent ~$.20 - $.30 /mile over the past 5 years (>100,000 miles).

Don't forget the speeding tickets you will most likely get. Those can be spendy.

My car has had a total of $31,091.11 spent on it since new in July, 1995 and 147,000 miles.
That's $2072.74 per year or .21 per mile.
That figure includes everything. Tires, pads, fluids, and some mods, etc...

There is?

Maybe on a used car initially till you get it all sorted out and the way you want it, but they are only marginally more expensive than my daily driver.

My cost for oil changes is CA$96. And any other filter is in line with any other car.

nice to find another 993 DACH X-pipe owner. I live in NC and drove to his shop in Wilmington to get the X-pipe and swap my OEM mufflers for his gutted empty can DACH R mufflers. The sound is pure Valhalla
Also have PSS10 s
Speedline RS wheels
aluminum handbrake
front clear corners and front bumperette deletion
RS front splitters and rear wing (chose not to do the side pieces)
RS parts: steering wheel ,shifter ,front strut brace ,motormounts
FDM golden rod and short shifter

car just turned 100k miles so planning the 100k service

when I left an IT career and worked in a Benz parts department I had the shop foreman in the Porsche store drop the engine and go through it with a fine tooth comb at 90k: new cams and examined the valve guides, he said I was good in that they had the blueish color representative of newer-than-build-guides replacement (I bought the car with 60k on it after a drunk harley rider totalled
my ‘83 SC and killed himself)
i dint care whar the service costs, this RS clone always gets more than necessary (all fluids at 1/2 the recommended intervals)

I’ve owned 911s for about 20 years. Seems like it’s about $2500-3000 yr to a qualified shop. A few mods, maintenance and break fixes over that time. My new to me 993 is getting new green shocks and suspension bits. Luckily no mods contemplated for the 993. My 88 got lots of suspension mods and over time, as I got older, i didn’t like driving such a harsh riding car. Keeping this one stock.

Yea, the Porsche branded ones. The car is in the shop now. Will let you know impressions in a few days. Hoping they give a similar ride to the originals.

I thought there are two rules about 993 club:
There is no 993 club.
And, you never add up the bills.

Default Long term costs

I have spent $31,000 in 24 years of ownership including tires and cabriolet maintenance of $6,000, so 25 in 24 if it was a coupe….I would budget $1,000 a year based on that….I also saved about $5,000 doing work myself.

had no major replacement of parts at 75k….other than maintenance items including oil leak fixes - chain cover, valve covers……

now starting to replace rubber seals, speakers…..

My old post for typical year - from 2011/2 with 2012 prices))):

Daily driver second car with 6,000 plus miles this year. Car has 53k....can only drive so much in Asheville, NC...Insurance is $ 800 a year....

2010 costs with 5,000 miles driven - $ 606 - 2 rear snow tires mounted, $ 170 - oil change,
New windshield wiper stalks assembly - $ 500, new wipers - $ 25
Oil $ 12......total = $ 1,313.00

2011 Maintenance costs: A better year...$ 202.00 total

1) one oil change for $ 170.00
2) Odometer gear replaced - $ 20.00 DIY
3) 2 quarts oil for top-ups - $ 12.00

This year planned with 5,000 miles - oil changes - $200 , mixed air ventilation motor repair $ 300 , brake fluid change.......$ 110 = $ 610.00..........

Need a new top, but that will have to wait.......anticipate brake work since have original OEM everything and a 60K service, tune-up, etc... in 2013......

POST FROM 2020 on operating costs for my 993 since I bought it in 1999:

Expenses for 21 years of operation - 95 CabRaining today so I went through all of my receipts and decided to recap my maintenance and repair expenses over 21 years for my stock 1995 993 Cab and 68,883 miles of driving.....interesting data - for me anyways keep meticulous files by year in one place.

1) Spent $ 27,132 on regular maintenance and repairs by a shop or by myself - $ 1292.00 a year or $107.67 a month. All in all, a pretty solid car over the years and not costly. My 2003 996 C4S had $12K in warranty work over 4 years with a multitude of repairs (not IMS), so the 993 was screwed together a bit better with higher quality parts it seems......

The costs for the 993 over the years include:

1) Oil Changes - 14 oil changes or every 4,914 miles at average cost of $ $272.64

2) Summer 17 inch. Performance Tires - Rears lasted an average of 11K miles and fronts lasted 21K - Average cost per set of $ 761.00 - Sumitomo, Continental (2 sets) and BF Goodrich brands - had Pirelli 18 inch. snow tires for some of the mileage.

3) Brake Fluid changes - 5 at average cost of $ 183.50 - should have done more of these;(

4) New Belts - 2 times at a cost of $231.00.

5) Hood and rear engine cover struts - 2 times at a cost of $ 763.00

6) Air filters - 3 times = $45.00 total

Other highlighted things that needed repair or replaced-
1) CV boot
2) CD radio replaced
3) HVAC actuator
4) Convertible top and cables - once
5) Rubber air intake part
6) 4 bulbs - hood, rear engine, rear light and front fog light
7) windshield wiper switch
8) 2 DME relays - 1 spare
9) Cooling fan transistors - twice for high fan
10) 2 batteries
11) Latch motors for convertible top - 2 after the recall
12) 3 sets of wiper blades
13) 53 quarts of extra oil for top ups
14) upper and lower valve covers - replaced twice
15) front brakes - rotors and pads replaced - still have original rear brakes all components
16) harness warranty repair - $ 0
17) AC system rebuilt for $1900 - evaporator, condenser, etc.....
18) Strut brace for 18 inch tire option.
19) Rennline dead pedal added
20) Chain tensioner gasket repair.
21) Door handle gaskets - both sides
22) Original clutch still firm......just lubricate the clutch pedal mechanism...
23) On second set of clear 3M stone guards...after OEMs...

So, just need to fix a torn rear rubber spoiler part and odometer on-board computer light and I am good for a few more miles!

I'd estimate that I've spent over $30K on mine since buying it in 2013, however most of that has been in the form of upgrades through maintenance. Costs could've been considerably lower if I just maintained the car in stock form instead of using each maintenance opportunity to upgrade that system--bulletproofing or customizing to my liking.

I've had my car 15 years/75K miles and in terms of having to repair stock parts that failed and were not wear items, I'm probably well under $1K for the life of my ownership. Alternator, window switches, oil cooler ballast resistor, speedo gears, hmmm....can't really come up with anything else. All small-dollar stuff that I fixed myself. And the alternator is actually a wear item, so not sure it even belongs on this list. At least for me, this car has been like owning a Camry.

That of course is in stark contrast to the mods budget which at this point has far exceeded the original purchase price (which admittedly was at the bottom of the depreciation curve for 993's).
