Default AC problem

my compressor will not turn on. The fuse and relay in the rear compartment are good and the control unit in the dash seems to function. It worked fine 2 weeks ago. Is there a fuse/relay in the front that I am unaware of? Also, there is an oil leak from the left chain cover. Is this repairable with the engine in the car? Thanks for any help.

Low freon and yes the left chain cover can be removed with engine in the car. You need to remove the cat, heater tube, and rear engine tin. Might have to remove one or both of the mufflers to be able to snake these parts out.

Thanks for the help - I added 2 cans of freon and it works fine.

If you were down that low on Freon, then I'd say you've got a leak in the system (duh!) and it'll continue to give you problems. Always a good idea to evacuate, draw a vacuum on the system and see if it'll hold b4 re-filling. Optimum cooling obtained when exactly the correct amount of Freon is added.
