Without a doubt. Either way, the odometer was either swapped or tampered with.

The way I see it, vultures like this need to be exposed as quickly and as ruthlessly as possible for the benefit of the community. While this is almost entertaining, the underlying issue remains that the guy is trying to scam someone... he's just doing a really, really bad job of it.

actually, mileage on 5/17/10 was reported to me to be approx 114K by the PO...before "Jude" bought it. I plan on scanning thru my emails, I think I still have a copy of the crappy PPI that the PO had done on the car.

So, 114K, not 112K...and that doesn't include any mileage over the last 4 months.

Later tonite I'm gonna dig thru all the crap I accumulated during my search. I know I got rid of quite a bit of it, but email's I still got. Car was listed on ebay when I negotiated the deal.

Anyway, bringing back fond memories of disfunction and deception surrounding the car. What fun...

I just read this tread for the first time and although all of the details are different, that is car (914) coast (east) we've got the same type of guy up here. Wants to sell some POS 914 that's not running had hasn't been for years for $2000. He's been advertising the car on CL for five or more years now. Wont sell it for less and wont even make the time to show it but keeps posting. Hoot! Here’s the link.

Am I missing something here? That doesn't seem too weird. He's up front about everything. I don't know what POS 914s sell for, but the rest of it sounds normal. Just overpriced?

Yeah, it doesn't seem as if he's overselling it at all. He's said over and over that it needs a lot of work.

So that confirms two things: 1) He got "112k" from reading this post, and 2) He has no idea what the correct mileage is.

In order to protect anyone considering this car, you should post the VIN here if you can find it. It will show up in Google searches from now on.

Default vin #

WPOAA299XTS320580, got it from the Autocheck report that the PO sent me. Most recent mileage from that report is 110K.

comments from the PO's email to me

"The codes are. 220, 224,240,329,373,374,408,454,650
The car is for sale locally at 21K"

"-The car did not come with the factory Motor sound package 159 but as i was detailing the car i discoverd that that package consisted of only the airbox with chrome ring and the chrome exhaust tips. I purchased these new and installed them in the car.
-The OBC only came on Turbos and Tips. But I wanted it installed on my car. The car is wired to have it so again I purchased the necessary parts and had it installed. (not cheap)"

I have the full auto check report, and PPI from the dealer the PO bought the car from...the guy "Jude" bought it from for $22K.

In a nutsehll, follow up conversations with the PO, as well as "Jude", the compression and leakdown numbers showed one cylinder very low, and other numbers all over the place...that detail came from "Jude". "Jude" also said the car shifted hard, and pulled strongly to the left under acceleration...so probably motor mounts+.

This WAS a decent car in need of mechanicals BEFORE "Jude" bought it...now who the hell knows what it is.

The mileage rollback didn't work for Ferris Bueller, and it didn't work for "Jude" either I guess.

As I said before, too bad really, this was a nice car-it deserved better.

I'll go look at the car in the next few weeks and see what the speedo says.

What the...that IS the dumbest thing I have read...that is suppose to be his excuse. Makes me sick at my stomach that people would try to screw others on purpose. Guess I am naive, I didn't really think this happened. I am disappointed
