Looking for 993 Daily Driver
Looking for 993 as daily driver. Must be aesthetically and mechanically perfect or near perfect. Must be manual. Must be one owner. All books and records. AC must be strong for hot, humid south Texas. Prefer Arctic Silver. Prefer OEM interior and exterior.

Might want to stick with that 997. I find that the AC is good up until about 90 degrees. It is less effective in the humidity.

Currently Porsche-less. Sold my cab back in '06 to build a pool.

Sounds more like a description of a garage queen rather than a daily driver. Why subject such a nice car to such treatment?
For similar money, I'd rather DD a Cayman S and have a little more peace of mind. Then again, this is a Los Angeles perspective.

Gonna be pretty hard to find a 993 that not only meets all your criteria but is still owned by the same guy who drove it off the dealer's lot 15 years ago...I can understand wanting a 997 that's never changed hands, but when it comes to 993's, this is a little like trying to find a middle-aged woman to date who's never had a boyfriend.

Good luck finding a one owner car, and with all those other requirements as well. You could have a long search ahead of you.

Man...you guys are tough. I'd suggest he expand his search to 1-2 owners. I've found that many times the original owner was a "rich dude" who really wasn't a "Porsche guy" but the second owner was an enthusiast who took excellent care of the car. Personally I shy away from multiple owners (4+); I find that too much information is lost along the way.

Agree with others here.
Doesn't sound like a proper candidate for a daily driver. And why spend that sort of money on something that you'll be exposing to all the evils of daily road life? The savings can easily be put into a new a/c or whatever.
And when you find such an untouched sample, it might be better served as a collectible, sitting in a garage under cover, imho.

Lookslike you need a well sorted car that has been thru all of the usual stuff that can go wrong. For that, I would suggest a higher mileage one that has recent records and has been driven, say like over 90,000 / 100,000 miles. I am on my second 911, i just picked up a 94,000 mile 1995 coupe. Previous over put on 22,000 miles in the past year. Car looks and feels like much less mileage. oh, and the good thing was it only was $22,000. My previous 911 which i had to sell do to the ecomomy 2 years ago, was a 1997 C2S with 60k miles. In my 2yr ownership that last 5,000 miles I did new clutch, odo fix, ac control fix, painted front bumper, and a few other fixes. In comparing the 2, yes the c2s is more desirable, and I sold it for what i bought it for 2 years later, but from the cockpit they look and drive both the same, one is just $20k cheaper.

My suggestion, choose a driver...look for updated and near perfect mechanicals. Great apperance is a plus, but if your gonna use it as a DD-as I do, you want quality mechanicals first, cosmetic's second.
I got a stone chip in the windshield on the drive HOME with the car the day I bought it for christ sake. $hit happens in the real world, so be mentally prepared for it.
Afterall, DD's get parked at the big box store parking lots, they spend time behind dump trucks on the highway, and lets face it...eventually you'll hit something with it-or they'll hit you.
Look for a solid mechanical car, and drive the tires off of it. You will love every shift, and every mile in it...ask me how I know. Three months of ownership with my C4S, and about 5500 miles and counting. I'm hoping to get 10k on it before winter hits here in the North East.

The good thing about these cars is they can be DD's and be stunning lookers as well. My 94K mile car would get a dishonorable mention were I to be so foolish to enter it in a concours, but to the lay folk out there, it's still drop dead gorgeous.

don't despair. I found a 993, one owner in Northern Cal. 36,000 miles, perfect - garaged. bought last year.
minor issues but no complaints. took @ 6 months to find. reason he sold? . . . bought new Turbo and could n't stand to think of parking outside the garage. I picked it up the day his new arrived. HA!
oh yeah, after some communications via email, photos etc. I flew up on a one way ticket and drove down. what a trip!! its a daily. doing valve guides now, just cause. german engineering - nothing like it. My wife drives 2010 cayenne. guess she got a little envious.
