Thoughts on Kenwood receivers....
I'm thinking of replacing my current Alpine HU with one of these:

Thoughts? Opinions on Kenwood products?
TIA!

I have the 794. Its a nice product that looks nice, has excellent functionality and sounds good.
The only real problem I have is that the screen is very reflective and therefore it can be hard to see with the glare. The placement of the radio in the 993 exacerbates this problem.
That said, I like the look enough that I just deal with it.

Rod Birch from Car Audio Innovations (highly respected) seems to prefer Kenwood to Alpine or Nakamichi, which I think says a lot. I tried one in my car, but the display was terribly reflective. These look better.
Well, according to what Quad posted while I was typing, maybe not...

I can't comment on Kenwood, but beware if you choose to buy it "from" Amazon: https://rennlist.com/forums/off-topi...ff-amazon.html

I also have the 794 and I like it. I especially like that the iPod connection is in the rear of the unit. That said, the reflection can be annoying but I also just live with it.

I have two Kenwood head units. Not sure of the models but they have both iPod and Satellite connectivity/controllability. They both just work as a preamp though as a separate amp drives the speakers. Zero complaints though, they are easy to navigate/use too.

I just installed the Kenwood KIV-BT900. I love it. I replaced a year-old Pioneer unit because the glare was rendering the display useless (unless I was in the garage). No CD player (no need for that any more), Sirius, iPod, 512mb internal memory, Parrot Bluetooth (the best IMHO), and best of all NO GLARE. I can see it easily in any condition. Highly recommend.

The glare problem is an easy fix. Just buy an anti-glare film for an iPhone (Apple store, Best Buy, Ebay, etc.) and trim to fit. Won't kill the glare altogether but should help a lot.

I had a Kenwood HU a long time ago, it was terrific, never had any issues with it.
I also had a Kenwood car alarm, it was a POS, I don't know if they are different parts of the same parent company, or part of the same division, as I don't know how Kenwood is organized.
Eventually I moved to an Alpine system, which I had for many years with no problems. I swear by Alpine.
