Default '96 c2 cab -- windstop -- dumb question!

Can I leave the windstop on the car and put the roof up? Or do I need to manually remove it? I'm assuming the latter but don't want to 'try' the former without input!

Hi Greg - I have a '95, and if yours works like mine, the mechanism nicely parks the wind screen up and over your head, out of the way. It's pretty slick, actually.

Just make sure it doesn't come loose. The spring that holds the left side in place can stop functioning and it will work it's way loose and snap the windscreen when you put the top up. This by the way, is not a theory.

not sure i get this.

Do you leave the windstop locked in (red lock protection on) or do you unlock it first and then put the roof up?

Leave it locked in--sounds like Rich can give you the details if it isn't locked... I don't believe it matters if it is up or down.

Leave it locked. It doesn't matter if it's up or down.

If you don't plan on using it for a few month you can unzip the flap, flip it over the windscreen and zip it back up. This was the windscreen is tucked between the roof and the headliner and doesn't touch the top of your head.

Nile13 - Can you provide a little more detail about how the windscreen can be flipped and stored between the roof and headliner? I've never heard this. I've always left mine in place and it folds above my head (when the top goes up) or I remove it completely.

When the roof is down, unzip the zipper. Make windscreen flap hang straight down. Lay the windscreen down. Pull the flap _over_ windscreen and zipper it up. Close the roof and be amazed at extra headroom
