When I bought my C4S it was bone stock with the SUV ride height. I found it very floaty and sometimes squirley on the road. I ended up getting an alignment and eventually swapping out the suspension with JIC Coilovers.

I also replaced the bushings in the front with the one's Chris Walrod makes. They made a huge difference.

I forgot about the tire pressure. Just had rear tires mounted and the tires were 4 pounds over and the car was all over the place. I run 34/36

So what is the recommended tire pressure for the stock 18" wheels on a C4S?

Tough question. Porsche advises 36F, 44R for 18" equipped 993s. This will effect the ride quite negatively. Most people "play" with the pressures a bit to find their own "optimum" pressure. Also, going too low on the back will increase your risk of wheel damage.

FWIW, I run 36F, 40R on my cars.

Same here. Ginch, I had the same exact problem when I bought my car. In fact I probably posted your exact same question. In addition to what you describe I also had a front end shimmy during light braking. I'd notice it most during light braking on highway off ramps. Swapping out the front lower control arm bushings was a major improvement in the handling of my car.

Bringing this back from the dead. New wheels and tires and the tendancy for the car to pull left and right has pretty much diminished. I am however experiencing steering wheel wooble and a little uneasiness on the highway. Ordered a set of walrod bushings today. Hoping that cures my woobly steering wheel.

It most likely will significantly improve the wobble. I obserced this on my 4S a couple of weeks ago.

Don't underestimate the value of an alignment from someone who REALLY knows 993s. I had an alignment from a good shop, a couple times, and was still so dicey I had to skip a couple track events. Sought a second opinion and one toe setting was off...THAT made ALL the difference.

Just had TyrolSport in Brooklyn install the Walrod bushings on my car. I decided that it was just too much work to do this on my own. The guys at the shop are great and the price they charged was very reasonable. The new bushings make a significant difference - steering wheel rattle is gone and vibration around 60MPH is also gone. I'm very happy with the results, thank you Chris Walrod for making these for us!

Well I ordered a set of Walrod bushings which I'm excited about. I, did however have my wheels balanced today and it turns out I must have dropped a weight or 2 as 2 out of the 4 were pretty bad. Happy to report that the car is transformed. No more wobble and very stable. I guess I should have done this prior to buying the bushings however I guess it wont hurt to change them out!
