Default 18" tire size question

I have the stock 18" solid spoke technology rims on my car for track events. Ive been offered a set of r-comp front tires at a good price. The only problem is that they're not exactly the same size as stock. Stock is 225/40/18 and the ones offered are 245/35/18.

Has anyone run that size on the front? Did you have any issues with rubbing? My car has H & R springs and bilsteins - and sits quite low.

Im happy to keep shopping - but these are at a good price. Let me know.

That's the size i'd like to go to. It does fit, usually on an 8.5" wheel, here on 8.5ET56 & 285/30 on 10ET65

I have had 245 40's on the front of my car without issue (car has been as low as RS-10mm), 245/35 is my tire preference as well.

Have you checked the circumference delta to whatever rears you are running? Needs to be within a small margin on a 4S or it will be hard on the viscous coupling.

That's why you run 285/30 rear, the rolling radius matches the 245/35 front

+1 I'm running these and you will LOVE the extra front end bite. My car used to push alot in AX corners (could be me "overdriving" into the corner a bit fast too...) and the first event after going from stock size fronts to the 245/35/18 fronts was awesome. MUCH grippier!

what tires?

i've found
R6 & A6
V710
Conti DW

all 993 understeer, I used a higher ratio of rear to front spring and it still understeers w/ 225/265

Thats one thing i really have never had a problem with, my cur is currently running 235/265's and is always very neutral (TRG sways set in the middle, shocks just stiffer that KW recommendations)

245/35 definitely works, been using that size for 3-4 years now with no issues other than slight rub on the inner fender at full lock in AX.

The 255/35 Hoosier also works, just put on a set and used them last weekend for AX and will be using them at Solo Nationals in two weeks. Same rolling circumference as 245/35 but Hoosier lists them as 1" wider tread width. Pretty pinched on my stock size 8" wheels (class limitation) but every little bit helps.

(car is stock US ride height, -1.9 deg front camber)

I've run 245/35 PS2 on 8.5" and 9" width rims. The 8.5" rims were ET45 and inboard and outboard clearance was fine; the 9" rims were ET40 and I rolled the fenders slightly. Also, IMHO I think PS2 tend to run on the slightly wide side, at least vs the SO2s I had previously.
