Default Radio Switched Power Lead

1994 993 C2 carbriolet tiptronic
I am trying to find a switched power lead which was originally connected to the radio.

Can someone confirm the radio switched power lead is red/black in color? If so, with key ignition off, I am getting 8.50 volts. Is this correct? However with key in position 1, I am getting 12 volts.

Thanks a million.

Oof, I wish I could recall this from the head unit install I just did last week. Wouldn't switched power be Zero with the ignition Off? Sounds like you might have constant power with 8-1/2 volts with the ignition off.

Thanks. That's what i thought. Mine read 8.5 volts with ignition off. Where and how do I start tracking this down?
Thanks.

I am sure someone has come across this before.
Thanks.

I don't recall exactly how the setup works for this but there has to be some power to the head unit at ignition off or else the theft code will need to be reset everytime. IIRC the Becker website has a pdf of a manual and in it you can find the key for the plugs at the back of the unit. I expect you'll find there are two + power lines, one that switches off with the igniition and one that remains on.

If you have a multimeter and access to the two harness for the radio this should be easy to identify.

Pull the harness out of the back of the radio and get to testing. Ground will be black most likely for one lead. The other is hunt and see with the ignition on or off.

Test it today.
Red wire - unswitched
black - earth
red/black -
Ignition on : 12v,
Ignition off : sometimes 5v, sometimes 8.5 v
Any idea. Ignition switch problem?
In the meantime, used cigarette lighter power lead. Ignition on: 12v, Ignition off: no power. Works fine so far.
